I don't know that there's any reason to suggest that it's any more or less stable than Yii, though.

Thanks, Jim, for your comments. As with anything I do, I always hit the "bugs" part of a forum and not sure if you have in regards to YII > http://www.yiiframework.com/forum/index.php?board=5.0I think I'll stand on the sidelines, as I have spent too much time in the past with bugs, and I thought I would toss this one your way as it is not mentioned. I just downloaded and installed the sandbox a few days ago before I found your site and haven't had time to get going on it yet and thought I would share this. Looks a bit more stable.. :-)Regards, Jimhttp://www.symfony-project.org/

Hello Larry, and thank-you for the blog and comments. I definitely don't think anyone must use frameworks but they are worth considering. Thanks for your post!

Well, the arguments for using frameworks is that, after you spend the time to learn them, you’ll be able to develop sites much faster, plus there could be security and ease of maintenance benefits. LIke you stated about Larry plain PHP is faster then any framework so why would I want to use one. It just seems like more work to learn it?

Alas I have only been working with PHP for a couple of years so I haven’t made my way down to using frameworks. Not all applications should be built using a full MVC architecture, so being able to use Zend library classes outside of the Framework for smaller projects, has been one of the biggest benefits. My point is, sometimes people put too much emphasis on response times without understanding why they are using a particular framework in the first place.

When I first started looking at frameworks, performance wasn’t the highest priority on my list of criteria, I wanted something that was going to help me develop and deploy applications quickly, efficiently and was scalable.

I chose Zend Framework for a number of reasons: loose coupling, flexibility and backed by Zend themselves (this was a huge point for me).
