Installing PHP 6 on Windows

The makers of EasyPHP, an all-in-one Apache, PHP, and MySQL installer for Windows, also provides a PHP 6 version if you’re interested in experimenting with the next major version of the language (as I demonstrate in my PHP 6 and MySQL 5 for Dynamic Web Sites book). I haven’t personally used EasyPHP (I try to avoid using Windows, if at all possible), but from what I can tell it seems to be a quality, well-supported product. EasyPHP is available for free although donations are encouraged.

Pearson sent me copies of several of your PHP books as possibilities for my Basic Web Programming course at The Lifelong Learning Center in Missoula, Montana. My students are people off the street – not CS students – who have jobs in areas like heating and cooling, local government, sole proprietor businesses, graphic art, etc (all across the board.) If I teach the course like a CS course, these folks will never come back.

What I like about your PHP books is that you tell EVERYTHING. You explain all the little pieces and nuances that were a total mystery to me, when I was a CS student. Thanks for a great job!!!

Thanks for the nice words on the books. I’m glad that you like them and it’s so kind of you to say so. Good to know they’re working for your students! Although I would suggest that I purposely try not to discuss everything, because there’s so much information that nobody ever really needs to know. I strive for everything you actually need!

If you need quick assistance with a question or problem related to one of my books, please use the support forums instead.
