Mr. Alexander
Hello Ladies & Gents, I have several Mac computers on which i work at. I would like to set it up in such a way that I will install web servers across all of them, with similar settings, which will enable me to work on one computer copy and paste the folder of the web server and paste it with another computer and it will load the latest php/mysql/server configuration. Your help is highly appreciated, Alexander
Larry
If you're talking about server configuration, you could just copy the httpd.conf file from one to the other. If you're talking about the contents of the Web server, you'll want to use version control or some such.
Mr. Alexander
Hi Larry, Thanks for the tip. I am actually looking for the contents and in particular the databases as I understood they store unique content under the folder /Library. Are you able to direct me to a place where this can be achieved ? If I just copy and paste the XAMPP folder to keep the computers in sync would that work ? Thank you in advance for your help, Alexander
Todd.M
Hello Alexander, The best way (from Apple) is to run what is called a redundant server configuration. It just means that one machine is the main server and it will automatically update all other systems with the data that has changed. You would be able to set what folders, files and when it should propagate. as well this is the best way regardless with multiple servers so that when one fails the next server in line will take its place. Business.Apple.com has pdf's explaining this in not so techie terms and is easy to read. Hope this helps, Todd
